Should I Use A Particular Color Acid Stain For My Exterior Concrete?

This may seem like a bit of a strange question – surely ALL colors would be equal for use outdoors? And while acid stains are both tough and beautiful (a rare combo, usually found amongst young female motorcyclists and Praying Mantises!), you might be interested to know that some shades of acid stain do have limitations when it comes to the Great Outdoors.

All acid stains will retain their color, even in the most blazing of blazing suns, but for some reason, green and blue acid stains have a peculiar tendency to darken over time. Perhaps they’re the acid stain equivalent of blonde and blue-eyed – they tan and get darker in the glorious sunshine?

Either way, if you’re looking for a color that won’t shift its shade throughout the vast eons of time it will be attached to your exterior concrete, choose a color that isn’t on the blue or green spectrum. If your heart lusts after these two glorious shades, however, have no fear – they will last and look beautiful across the ages, even if they do get darker in the sun.

If you are planning to stain your outdoor concrete, give the experts at Stone & Surface Specialists a call at 801 856 0164 – we’ll be able to advise you on the best stain color and effect for your driveway, patio or entranceway.
