How Do I Deodorize My Carpet?

Carpets can be both beautiful and functional, but with their abundance of absorbent fibers, they can also soak up undesirable smells. Follow our quick, green process to remove nasty stinkies from your lovely soft carpets.

You will need:

½ cup baking soda

½ cup borax

1 tspn ground spices (Cinnamon is a great option to try on dark carpets – DO NOT USE on light-colored carpets as it may stain; essential oils may be used instead)

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and store in a dry, well-ventilated place in an airtight container. Sprinkle the mix on stinky carpet and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. The baking soda is a powerful smell absorber, especially of pet smells.

Vacuum thoroughly after thirty minutes and you will be left with just the delicious scent of warm spices.

If you’d like to have your carpets deep-cleaned as well as deodorized, give the Utah professionals at Stone Surface Specialists a call today at 801 856 0164 to schedule your carpet deep-clean.
